We have some great news!  While Community Board 7 failed us by voting to support the proposed Special Flushing Waterfront District, the #FedUpFlushing Coalition has been working diligently over the last couple of weeks to persuade the Queens Borough President, Sharon Lee, to critically evaluate the proposal and consider the many concerns of community members. She recently released her analysis of the proposal and is recommending that the City should NOT APPROVE the current SFWD proposal!  This is a significant victory for our community and we couldn't have done it without your support and encouragement.  Thank you!

However, there are still challenges ahead, including hearings at the City Planning Commission and the New York City Council, which both have the formal authority to stop or approve the SFWD proposal.  The developers have already spent $1 million lobbying City government and the only way we will win is if we can mobilize our community to fight back. In addition to signing and forwarding this petition to your network, we urge all our supporters to submit written comments to the City Planning Commission by March 18th using this online form.  Additionally, you can also testify at the April 1st public hearing and present your comments in person to the members of the City Planning Commission before they vote.  Thank you again for your critical support on this important issue.  Onward to victory!
