Dear Petition Signers,
St George’s Parking Lot Request will be heard by the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) on TUESDAY APRIL 21 AT 4.30PM at Belle Meade City Hall. Please plan to attend. Please speak if you are able.
The church is requesting approval of TWO options: Enter/exit off Harding Rd. (which is State jurisdiction) or Lynwood Blvd. The applicant is also applying for a “conditional use” and 3 variances.
If you live or travel near Lynwood Blvd, please consider how this would effect your home life in the short and long term. St George’s has stated their intention to grow their parish. Would Lynwood exit be right turn only? Could this create many turn arounds in smaller streets and driveways? How much additional traffic will this cause? What about 5 years from now?
Other points to consider:
A PARKING LOT IS NOT A CHURCH
A PARKING LOT IS NOT A PLACE OF WORSHIP. The Reflection Garden does not need 112 space parking lot.
A PARKING LOT IS NOT A “CONDITIONAL USE” UNDER SECTION 14-204
A PARKING LOT DOES NOT BELONG ON THE FRONT LAWN OF A HISTORIC ESTATE
CODE 14-208 REQUIRES A LOT-SPECIFIC HARDSHIP WHEN APPLYING FOR A VARIANCE
A PARKING SHORTAGE IS NOT A LOT SPECIFIC HARDSHIP.
The Code applies to all property owners within the City of Belle Meade, and should be applied consistently across all applicants.
