We oppose high‑density townhouse development at 4 Attwater Dr. and 2321 Dundas St. S.
The Issue
📄 Petition Description :
We, the residents of the surrounding neighbourhood in Cambridge, Ontario, are raising our collective voice to oppose Application R04/26, a proposed high‑density townhouse development at 4 Attwater Drive and 2321 Dundas Street South.
This development poses serious concerns for the safety, livability, and long‑term character of our community.
🚦 1. Traffic Congestion & Road Safety
Adding a large cluster of townhouses will significantly increase traffic, making it more dangerous for:
Children walking to school
Pedestrians
Cyclists
Emergency vehicles
The current road network is not designed for this level of density.
🚗 2. Parking Overflow
Townhouse developments often generate more vehicles than available parking. This leads to:
Overflow parking on nearby streets
Reduced visibility
Narrower roadways
Increased risk of accidents
Residents should not have to deal with unsafe and congested streets.
🏘️ 3. Excessive Density Not Compatible With the Neighbourhood
Our community is primarily composed of detached homes. At the outskorts of the city this is a peaceful area with a quite neighbourhood. Introducing a high‑density block of townhouses will:
Alter the established character of the neighbourhood
Increase noise and traffic
Strain local infrastructure and services
This proposal does not align with the existing community fabric.
📑 What We Are Asking For
We respectfully request that the City of Cambridge:
Reassess the scale and density of the proposed development
Consider development options that better align with the existing neighbourhood
