VDOT has proposed eliminating the traffic signal at the intersection of Burke Centre Parkway and Fairfax County Parkway as a way to smooth the flow of traffic northbound to Rte 66 and southbound to Rte 123.  We oppose this change because it will eliminate the left turn from southbound Fairfax County Parkway onto Burke Centre Parkway, causing a reduction in the traffic to Burke Centre's business district as well as an increase in the traffic on residential streets in Burke Centre. 

For these reasons, we support the inclusion of a flyover ramp connecting southbound Fairfax County Parkway traffic to Burke Centre Parkway, which would achieve both the VDOT goal of smoothing northbound Fairfax County Parkway traffic flow as well as the interests of Burke Centre residents and businesses in maintaining access to our businesses and avoiding traffic increases on our residential street.
