Thank you for backing my previous calls to tax the wealthy.

I’ll be presenting a new petition in Parliament in the next few weeks ahead of the Autumn Budget calling for a tax on bank super-profits. 

While millions across the country are struggling to get by, the big banks are raking in billions in extra profits from higher interest rates.

These higher rates are driving up mortgage payments and rents for ordinary people already hit hard by soaring food and energy bills.

Experts estimate that a tax on bank super-profits could raise up to £15 BILLION per year to fund much-needed cost-of-living support and help rebuild our public services.

The Government already applies a windfall tax to the super-profits of oil and gas companies. The same principle should apply to banks profiting from higher interest rates.
