Dear Advocates,
I hope this message finds you well. I'm excited to update you on the positive developments within the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department, a direct result of the petition you wholeheartedly supported, advocating for enhanced family swim schedules at our city's public pools.
In June, I had the opportunity of presenting our concerns to the decision-makers at SF Recreation & Parks, and while they have demonstrated their openness to consider our requests, they introduced indeed some changes for the fall season but they are unfortunately not uniform across all San Francisco public pools.
I am delighted to share that these efforts have yielded significant progress at Mission Pool, where we now witness substantial improvements. Families are welcome to enjoy daily afternoon swim sessions, with an exciting extension of pool hours until 6:30 pm on Fridays – a first for families in that location. We've successfully advocated for shared time slots with lap swimmers, achieving a harmonious balance that offers precious swim time for families. The new Mission Pool schedule is as follows:
Tuesday (2:30-4 pm)
Wednesday (3:15-4:45 pm)
Thursday (2:30-4 pm)
Friday (5-6:30 pm)
Saturday (10:45 am-12:30 pm & 2-4 pm)
I wholeheartedly encourage you to take advantage of these newfound opportunities by bringing your children to the pool for quality family time.
Our aspirations, however, extend beyond Mission Pool. While we recognize the complexities of scheduling amidst swimming lessons, which is apparently the main constraint for SF Recreation & Parks Departement, we remain committed to expanding family-friendly schedules across all San Francisco public pools.
Your continued support is paramount in our journey to advocate for further change. If you'd like to join this collective efforts in championing expanded schedules at other pools, please reach out to me directly. Together, we can continue our quest to ensure that families citywide have increased access to these invaluable resources.
Thank you for your unwavering support, and we eagerly anticipate further positive developments. Please, continue to share this petition!
Warm regards,
Sandra Dejanovic
