WE NEED SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS TO KEEP THEIR JOBS

WE NEED SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS TO KEEP THEIR JOBS
The Issue
PETITION TO PANEL FOR EDUCATION POLICY, MAYOR OF NYC, GOVERNOR OF NY, AND THOSE WHO ARE RUNNING FOR MAYOR, WE NEED YOU TO PROVE TO US THAT YOU ARE CARE
Protect Our Children & Our School Bus Workers: Approve the 5-Year Contract Extension
As NYC parents, grandparents, guardians, and community members, we are coming together because our children—and the hardworking school bus workers who serve them—are at risk.
On November 1st, thousands of school bus drivers, attendants, and mechanics may lose their jobs. If the proposed 5-year contract extension is not approved, buses may stop running. This means children may lose safe, reliable transportation, and parents across the city—many of whom work full-time jobs, several jobs, or non-traditional hours—will be left without a way to get their kids to school.
This is not just a labor issue.
This is a family issue.
This is a child safety issue.
This is a community issue.
Our bus workers are not strangers.
They are the familiar faces who make sure our kids get to school safely every day.
They greet our children by name, calm their nerves, look out for bullying, and treat every child as their own. Many of these workers start their day at 3 AM, working long hours in all weather conditions, just to make sure our children are safe.
Parents rely on them. Our children trust them.
Without school bus service, tens of thousands of families will be forced into impossible situations:
Parents forced to miss work
Parents losing income or even their jobs
Children walking or commuting unsafe distances
Families already struggling pushed deeper into hardship
We are asking the Panel for Educational Policy to approve the 5-year contract extension so our children can continue getting to school safely, and so our dedicated bus workers can provide for their families—just like we provide for ours.
Bus workers are parents, too. They are community members. They are essential.
We are asking—on behalf of our children—that you do not allow this city to lose the people who protect them every single morning and every single afternoon.
Please stand with us and show that New Yorkers support:
Safe transportation for every child
Job stability for workers who dedicate themselves to our kids
Families who cannot afford another setback
We urge the Panel for Educational Policy to do the right thing and protect our children by approving the contract extension.
Our kids deserve safety. Our workers deserve security. Our families deserve stability.
Please sign and share widely. Our voices together can—and will—make a difference.
