We need 'NICE TO NOT MEET YOU' Season 2
La causa
Nice To Not Meet You has concluded its broadcast on tvN and Amazon Prime Video, but the season finale felt rushed and left many storylines unresolved or confusing. For this reason, a second season would be the best way to properly develop and resolve these loose ends.
Here is a point by point list of the unresolved or unclear storylines that should be resolved in a second season:
- The identity of Lim Hyeon-jun's father was never revealed.
We were only told that he supposedly died (I personally felt that Ae-suk might have been lying to her son when she told him that, which leaves open the possibility that he is actually still alive), and also there were rumors suggesting he was a rich business man.
I had a theory that he could be someone connected to Lee Dae-ho, Lee Jae-hyeong and O Mi-ran. I believe this man could be their father, which would explain why Lee Dae-ho was determined to destroy Hyeon-jun's career in order to prevent any connection between them as half-brothers from coming to light. It could also explain the origin of the rivalry between Oh Mi-ran and Ae-suk, since as both of them could have been lovers of the same man, which is why they would hate each other that much.
This storyline could be further developed in a second season, with this man attempting to get Lee Dae-ho out of prison and possibly seeking revenge, even against his own son Hyeon-jun, trying to sabotage his career.
- Hyeon-jun never returned Jeong-sin's USB drive.
It could contain information related to Lim Hyeon-jun's father that she either didn't notice.
Additionally, it would be both interesting and humorous to see Jeong-sin's reaction upon finding out that Hyeon-jun had her USB all along and that by not returning it, he unintentionally comes across as a thief.
- What happened to Yoon Jung-ho's career.
Yoon Jung-ho (the veteran actor who abused actresses) and Hyeon-jun tried to ruin his career by ensuring that no one would hire him again. However, due to the internal conflicts at King's Back (Lim Hyeon-jun's company) caused by Lee Dae-ho, this plan may have never been fully carried out. Did it fail, or was it simply left unresolved?
I also had the feeling that Yoon Jung-ho could potentially be Hyeon-jun's father. As a highly respected veteran actor, it's possible that he abused his power and crossed a line with Ae-suk in the past.
Exploring this possibility in a second season and revealing him as Hyeon-jun's father, could be compelling, especially if it also involved a legal case or trial connected to the controversies surrounding both Lee Dae-ho and Yoon Jung-ho.
- We never found out who triggered the fire alarm.
When Jeong-sin and Hyeon-jun were chasing Yoon Jung-ho and Hyeon-jun's psychiatrist on the highway, they arrived at a motel where the latter were staying. Later, Jeong-sin enters to figure out how they could get out, but just as she steps inside, the fire alarm goes off. She gets out and sneaks into Hyeon-jun's car, and as soon as she sees them leave, she takes pictures of them.
However, it's strange that we don't know who triggered the alarm, since it clearly wasn't a coincidence so it must have been done on purpose.
- Hyeon-jun's career after no longer being typecast as Kang Pil-gu was not fully developed.
A second season should show what his career looks like now, how he rebuilds it, regains his confidence, and embraces a new identity as an actor. This growth feels essential to fully understanding his journey.
Additionally, showing the outcome of his Hollywood film could establish him as a globally recognized actor. This would also work as one of the many meta-references throughout the drama to the actor Lee Jung-jae himself.
- And most importantly, we need to see more of Lim Hyeon-jun & Wi Jeong-sin as a couple.
They only officially became a couple in the final episodes, after many misunderstandings and back-and-forth moments, and their relationship did not have enough time to fully develop. We need to see more of their growth as a couple.
For example, we never saw all of the supposed ten dates they were meant to have. We also didn't see the implied marriage proposal, it initially seemed like Hyeon-jun was about to propose to Jeong-sin, but during their movie date, neither of them was wearing an engagement ring. And, of course, we were never given the kiss that felt rightfully earned.
A second season wouldn't only need romantic or lighthearted moments, it could also explore drama. For instance, we could see more of the public's reaction to their relationship. Some devoted fans of Kang Pil-gu might discover that he is dating a journalist who previously criticized and even defamed him, which could lead to backlash, jealousy, or controversy directed at Jeong-sin.
This would be an opportunity to address the darker side of fandom culture, but also the positive side, such as fans who support and actively ship them as a couple.
Anyway, that's all for now. Please sign this petition if you're interested, and share it with anyone you know who's also a fan of this drama, Lee Jung-jae and Lim Ji-yeon <3
