We need Freddie Mac to accept our Deed-in-Lieu-of-Foreclosure: VERMICULITE INSULATION (ASBESTOS)

We were not informed of the vermiculite insulation or the fact that the insulation contains tremolite asbestos when purchasing the home in 2005. Once we discovered the vermiculite and learned of the asbestos in 2006 (in the midst of home improvements), we got estimates for abatement which we could not afford. For several years we attempted to find assistance from our legislators, government agencies, and law offices, but there is no help available for people trapped in toxic houses. Then after trying and failing to list the house in 2010 (fully disclosing the asbestos issues), we left the house, and we appealed to HSBC to take the Deed-in-Lieu of Foreclosure. We were told we needed to first list the house 90 days for a short sale, so we listed for twice as long, but to no avail. We resubmitted our request for a Deed-in-Lieu-of-Foreclosure. After many obstacles, faxes, e-mails, and phone calls, Freddie Mac denied our request for a Deed-in-Lieu in May of 2013. What we simply want is our family to be free of the toxic house despite the financial hardship we know we will endure as our credit lies in ruin. Our children's health is more important, and we want this seven-year-long nightmare to end. We want Freddie Mac to take the deed so we can move on.
