In the last 2 decades, Fijian citizens have witnessed the killings, torture and degrading treatment by the Fiji Police Force.

We cannot reside in a Fiji, where the Police BRUTALLY harms Fijians. This is a collective call to all Fijians to join in this Rally to spotlight #EndPoliceBrutalityFJ

Here are some key statistics between 2015-2020

  • 110 Police/security officers charged with Assault/ACABH/AOABH/AWITCGBH
  • 290 Police/security officers charged with other serious crimes
  • 400 Total police / security officers charged

Remember that apart from the statistics above, there are unreported cases of #PoliceBrutality in Fiji and this in itself is a worry that Fijians are not confident in the forces and their processes to report this.

Fijians are concerned, Fijians are in pain and our need is to be seen and heard.

This must resonate throughout Fiji, from the parent who fears if their child is the next case of police brutality to the leaders who have the power to make decisions to change the institutions that perpetuate this.

Fiji demand acknowledgement and accountability for the devaluation and dehumanization of Fijian lives at the hands of the security forces.

We cannot reside in a Fiji, where the very institution that is meant to protect citizens is a source of concern and fear. POLICE BRUTALLY harms Fijians, families and communities.

We demand a restructure within the Fiji Police Force that will bring about a positive change where the institution fulfills its mandate in the best possible manner and where the public confidence in the force grows.

A change that will hold law enforcement accountable for the multiple and intersecting forms of violence and hierarchies of oppression they inflict and transformation that ensures a people and just approach at the center.

In spite of Fiji’s recent commitments to uphold human rights, extrajudicial punishment is often meted out by the security forces police, prisons and military officers resulting in severe injuries, lifelong disabilities and sometimes death.

This is a call to action to all Fijians both locally and abroad to be part of the fight to #EndPoliceBrutalityFJ. It's time that we ACT NOW FIJI. For a small nation, we have too many lives lost at the hands of the Fiji Police Force.

If you agree that we need radical and transformative change within the Fiji Police Force, sign the petition now and spread the word across Fiji, the Pacific and the world.

Remember there are unreported cases of #PoliceBrutality in Fiji. Oh and the list goes on...
