Dear Metropolis Council, FDF Board, and Management Team,
We’re following up to the email message sent on November 13th 2025 (below), we did not receive a response from the decision makers. The community petition has over 600 signatures as of today, after a very soft, low pressure outreach, and this week’s hotel situation has made the need for action unavoidable. We are asking you, as leaders in our Metropolis, to take the time to read the petition and the comments left by participants. For those who haven’t had a chance to read the petition or the comments, or are seeing it for the first time, here’s the link: www.change.org/hearuswelovefdf
Families lost confirmed rooms at two hotels, with no acknowledgment from FDF leadership. The petition is asking for 4 very reasonable requests, and the recent hotel issues have made the need for them unmistakably clear.
For FDF 2026, as good faith steps, announce the 2027 destination at the banquet, share the current and prior year budget in the Oli Mazi, improve meal quality for those who purchased meals, and offer reasonably priced day or competition only passes so the local Phoenix Greek Orthodox communities can come and enjoy this wonderful ministry. Day passes would also bring in additional revenue with no added costs.
Going forward, many communities need lead time to plan and fund their programs, so please commit to sufficient hotel inventory and a fair room reservation process, and publish the FDF 2027 plan by late May 2026, including the destination, dates, registration and hotel block opening dates, and a clear structure for community input.
We truly want FDF to succeed, and we are trusting that leadership is hearing and acknowledging participant concerns. We’re excited to gather next week, see our families and friends, and celebrate the hard work of our dancers.
Sincerely,
On behalf of the FDF Community Petition Supporters
