First, our signatures continue to climb. Thank you for re-posting and sharing as you're able. Second, the OWNER of the 76 Station reached out to me this afternoon using contact information from my email to the City last Friday, which had been forwarded to her today by Phillips 66. Nine of us were able to attend the impromptu meeting, including Councilmembers Noroyan and Terrazas, as well as three neighbors who previously had positive relations with the owner. Here is my attempt to be truly fair and balanced in reporting the meeting: GOOD: 1. Kudos to the owner for initiating what she knew would be a difficult conversation 2. Kudos to the owner for finally apologizing for what happened at her station 3. Kudos to the owner for re-engaging with the station on a daily basis (opening most days or coming later) 4. Kudos to the owner for terminating the two arrested employees, including the station manager (but see below) 5. Kudos to the owner for apparently moving quickly to resolve at least some of the operating issues sent to the City on Friday (e.g., paying past due taxes and fees) 6. Kudos to the owner for wanting to rebuild the trust she previously had with the neighborhood 7. Kudos to the owner for considering much needed refurbishments and improvements to the station. 8. Kudos to the owner for admitting that the neighborhood response, boycott and petition were having an impact BAD A. The arrested and now fired station manager is, indeed, her "domestic partner" as reported in the media, sharing her home and the father of her child. They continue to share the home, allegedly for the child. B. She claims to have not known of any stolen goods at the station since she turned operation of the station over to her domestic partner as the new manager of the station last October, as she was dealing with her sister's illness C. She claims to have not known of any stolen goods at her home since they were in her partner's/manager's areas of the house, and she thought they were from his flea market selling and buying business/hobby D. She seemed to minimize the significance of this issue and wanting another chance after having had just one problem. I will leave it to others who attended to provide further balance as they believe appropriate, and will later weigh in with my own thoughts and preferred actions. Greg
