We Deserve Safe Schools

The Issue

On Tuesday, May 24th, 19 kids the same age as me got up in the morning and got ready for school.  Some of them probably ate the same breakfast that I did, and talked and laughed with their friends on the bus, just like me.  But then an 18 year old- barely an adult- marched into the school with a gun and killed 19 kids and 2 teachers.  I got to come home from school on the bus that day, but these children didn't.

In school, we learn that our country is supposed to be a light that shines to the world for freedom.  People come here from other countries because we are the land of opportunity.  We learn that our elected officials are supposed to represent what the people want and keep us safe.  But now kids like me are scared to get up in the morning and go to school because of what happened in Uvalde or go to the grocery store because of what happened in Buffalo.

We deserve to go to school and feel safe.  Everyone should have that right.  It's our future, and we want a say in what happens. We need stricter gun control laws so that no child ever has to worry about going to school and getting shot.  If our elected officials won't listen to the adults, maybe they'll listen to the kids!

Kids- we can make a difference.  Please sign the petition. When we get enough signatures, we will send it to Washington, D.C. and demand change!
