Dear Friends:
NAR has failed us, AGAIN.
As you have likely seen, a federal jury found that NAR and other brokerages are liable for $1.78B in damages, which under antitrust rules would swell to over $5 billion. In addition, the plaintiffs in the case have asked the judge to order changes for how the industry operates, which of course puts at risk buyer brokerage commissions.
After 11 days in court, and a closing argument from the defense described by those inside the courtroom as “dismissive and condescending,” it’s no surprise the jury took less than three hours to render its verdict in favor of the plaintiffs, sending an earthquake throughout our industry.
And the response from the leadership at NAR? More of the same rhetoric. They assured us they were confident of victory down the line, and continued to tell its us, it’s 1.6 million members that they would prevail.
We’ve heard enough.
From their toxic work environment, to rampant sexual harassment, to failing to defend its membership in court, NAR is again today showing itself for what it is: An out of touch, troubled, bloated and ineffective trade association.
The only way to reform NAR is to make changes to its leadership - TODAY.
The NAR Accountability Project is calling on the NAR CEO along with the leadership team to resign. In addition, we demand that women who have been silenced be released from their NDA’s today.
What can we do to get the ball rolling on both? Two things:
E-mail NAR CEO Bob Goldberg directly. He needs to hear from members outside of the bubble. Follow this link for a pre-written email. We know you’re busy, so we made it simple: You can either personalize it or simply click send! CLICK HERE
Only with wholesale change can we begin to rebuild trust with the membership. With fresh eyes and a new perspective in place, a new leadership team can mount a vigorous appeal to today’s ruling.
At the NAR Accountability Project, we’ve always wanted a strong and vibrant NAR. We continue to believe in the importance of a flourishing industry trade association.
We need YOU to continue to lend your voices to our efforts to make that happen.
Sign up with us at the NAR Accountability Project homepage. Stay active and involved, together we will bring reform to NAR.
Let’s GO!
