In 2019, TWU Local 100 entered into a contractual agreement http://www.twulocal100.org/sites/twulocal100.org/files/2019_moa__departmentals.pdf with the MTA for the NYS Paid Family Leave (NYSPFL). Here we are 3 years later and the MTA has failed to implement NYSPFL. Depriving employees of thousands of dollars of paid time off to bond with their newborn, foster or adopted child.

Women have been working at the MTA for more than 100 years and are only afforded two weeks maternity leave. And in the event mom has a C-section she is subject to the same two weeks paid leave as a mom who had a natural birth, although it takes 8 weeks to heal form a C-section. Forcing moms to choose between there health and being able to provide for their families. 

New York State Paid Family Leave provides for up to 12 weeks of protected paid time off to bond with a child, care for a sick family member and child of an active military service member.

We demand that the MTA comply with the Law, fulfill their contractual agreement and implement NYSPFL.https://paidfamilyleave.ny.gov/2022
