We the undersigned call upon Chancellor Angela Merkel, President François Hollande, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and we also call upon Mr Donald Tusk, Mr Jean-Claude Juncker and Mr Martin Schulz (as Presidents respectively of the Council of Ministers of the European Union, European Commission and European Parliament):

To allow the UK Government more time before triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty (which would start the withdrawal of the UK from the European Union) and to put less pressure on the UK Government to do so.

The constitutional legal position appears to be that the outcome of the Brexit referendum is advisory only.  It is not binding on the UK Government.  A decision to serve a notice under Article 50 can only be made by the UK Government after a vote in the UK Parliament, because the UK is a representative democracy.  That has not yet happened.  Time needs to be allowed for that process to be done properly.

Only now are many British people beginning to appreciate what the consequences of voting for Brexit are.  They have just woken up with a huge hangover.  Please allow them time to recover their senses.
