We are ravers, not content. — Enforce Camera‑Light Dance floors at Boom Festival
The Issue
Dear Boom team, The Gardens crew, and artists,
We love Boom. We come for the music, the people, and that unmistakable sense of Here & Now.
This year at The Gardens, something shifted. Roaming cameras, phones on stage, and long gimbal shots created a wall between ravers and the DJ. It fractured the floor, pulled attention from presence to performance, and made many of us feel filmed rather than free.
From your own program page (LINK):
“Selfie sticks, mobile phones and national flags are not transcendental or psychedelic at all. Just the opposite. They disrupt the flow of Here & Now and interfere with the state of Oneness.”
We agree — and we’re asking you to enforce this so the ritual stays intact.
A personal story from The Gardens
During Frida’s set, cameras were everywhere... roaming through the dance floor, behind the DJ, in front of the DJ.
I was loving Frida's set, but at the same time I could not reach that state we are looking for when we come to Boomland.
Then a vocal said, “If you don’t like it… change it.” In that moment, I placed a small LOVE sticker over the front camera lens. The front row cheered. I was so happy — I was not alone feeling this!
We knew we had to do something to protect our space, and here we are.
We’re here to dance, to connect, and to protect the sacred space that Boom itself describes.
We are dancers, not Content!
Please help us keep the floor camera-light and consciousness-heavy.
