It’s been a few days since the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court Justice. We have learned how badly people will treat each other to advance ambition and power and control. We are feeling both angry and hopeful about what has just happened, not only in Washington DC but all across this country.
What will rise from our anger? Will we have something hopeful to offer? We think we do. We are inspired by the thousands of acts of courage in the face of denial and hatred.
Over the past two weeks, we have learned where strength comes from. It comes from collective action; from speaking our truths, and telling our stories.
We are among millions of people in our country who are choosing one another, knowing in this moment the forces of fear, hate, and violence continue to become more visible and empowered. When we are struggling, we will struggle together to become a part of something bigger than ourselves. There is a lot of work for us to do, and we must not give up finding ways to reconnect to our humanity, and the humanity in each other.
