WE DEMAND A STOP TO THE CULLING OF PIGEONS HAPPENING NOW IN BRIGHTON ESPLANADE, SA

Here is full story of culling pigeons from a member of public, that is happening in Brighton Esplanade, South Australia: 

"So I'm at the park on the Brighton Esplanade just reading my book and enjoying the sunshine. There's this guy in a high vis shirt with his ute parked half on the curb, sussing out a house. Too clean to be an actual tradie at 6pm, but he walks up into the driveway, stands back, pretends to look busy but basically scoping out this one house opposite the playground (he's parked on the same side of the road as the playground). 

After about an hour, out of nowhere he pulls out this scoped full size rifle, takes two shots at the roof of the house and quickly puts it away. I have my phone ready so I snap this pic of him. It's too quiet and has no suppressor so I figured it's an air rifle. Then he walks up to the house, picks up a dead pigeon and puts it in the back of his ute. 

I called the cops and told them what I saw. Turns out there's a pigeon cull active in the area and there are approved contractors working. 

Surely they have regs or at training to not pull their guns out next to a busy playground, or even some signage so I'm not panicking and calling the cops while I inconspicuously walk out of earshot of the guy... 🫨🤨 ". 

Culling pigeons is so Cruel and Barbaric. No matter which methods they are using, they all cruel. 

People who order Culling pigeons on their property and SAPOL who issue the shoothing permits, should realise that:
1. Culling is not just cruel but also has only short term effect, as pigeons regenerate their population shortly after the culling. 
2. By killing adult pigeons, their babies will die of dehydration and hunger in the nest and that's against the international animal welfare law. 
3. The shooting is not alway accurate, many pigeons end up with injury and have to live in agony. 
4. There are many non lethal humanely methods available to solve any pigeons problem. 
5. Pigeons don't carry diseases greater than other wildlife nor than domestic animals. 
6. And finally It's filling the pockets of psychopath shooters with zero empathy for animals.  

We are demanding SAPOL to ceased the approval of shooting pigeons as it causes so much distress on people and children.  

We are demanding the City of Holdfast to adopt the methods of birth control to solve the pigeon problem if there is any problem. The ovocontrol is approved in Australia long time ago, but councils are still so unfamiliar with that.
