Today, the picture with the update , shows the sad reality of what this RHDV2 virus is doing to people and children who lose their beloved pets. This dear little girl is putting flowers on the grave of her much loved bunny that was her special companion..... It is such a tragedy seeing and hearing stories like this from every corner of Australia as more and more fall victim to this RHDV2 Virus. We have no vaccine with any significant efficacy to protect our rabbits from this virus. RHDV2 is also NOT 100 per cent species specific.... think about that for a minute or two. We are in a wild fire like spread and this has now reached West Australia too. It is nationwide here and is also a big problem Globally too. The difference here is that our country wants to kill rabbits, globally they are very concerned re this virus and are actively trying to contain it. In Australia, it is being "researched"" to see how far and fast it spreads..... then in Autumn the plan is let out another virus known as K5 .... so we will again have another strain against which our available vaccine designed for RHDV1 classic strain (original virus) has very little efficacy for. the newer RHDV1 a strain to be known as K5. This strain was chosen as its considered a better killer. We will have two new plus the original virus to attack our domestic rabbits and a stronger version of Myxo also with no vaccine.... Please help us lobby this government for adequate vaccines to protect our domestic rabbits. Our rabbits do not deserve to die this horrible inhumane death, which is basically Rabbit Ebola. How many more children will have to bury their beloved pets and how many more grieving adults? Would there be the complacency if it was cats and dogs? I think not. please I am begging you and our rabbits are begging you to sign and share these petitions.... help get this global attention.. help make our government listen. thankyou...
