Remove The Wendy Williams Show From BET

The Issue

Dear Wendy Williams, I have always been a fan of yours. You tell it like it is and read people for the filth, which brings us the viewers much entertainment during the week. Your show typically brings laughs, however your show the other day upset me and is the reason I can no longer support your brand. Your comments pertaining to Jesse Williams, HBCUs and the NAACP offended me a great deal. I realize that working for white america for so long you may have come accustomed to "oofta-ing" and "cooning" it up for the coin so much that you have lost sight of reality but today I will learn ya something. Historically Black Colleges & Universities were founded so freed slaves and their descendants could obtain an education since we were not able to do that at the other higher education universities. HBCUs were founded so that blacks could get the same opportunities as the whites. Most of these schools were founded in the southern slave states after the American Civil War. The Higher Education Act of 1965 states these institutions as a Part B institution. A "part B institution" defines as: "...any historically black college or university that was established before 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association determined by the Secretary of Education to be a reliable authority as to the quality of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress toward accreditation." Part B of the 1965 Act provides for direct federal aid to Part B institutions. So Mrs. Williams instead of bashing and shaming the HBCU you should probably swallow the pill of reality and thank the HBCU because it was its founders that paved the way for you to get your nationally syndicated television. And newsflash, Yale, Brown, Harvard, ect those were "all white" institutions before segregation so miss me with the "what if there were only colleges for whites". And for the record HBCUs allow all races in because why? Everyone deserves the right to an education despite the color of their skin. As far as your comments toward the NAACP, girl just stop! So because once again you seem a tad bit lost let me learn ya something again. This taken from the NAACP website: "The NAACP was formed partly in response to the continuing horrific practice of lynching and the 1908 race riot in Springfield, the capital of Illinois and resting place of President Abraham Lincoln. Appalled at the violence that was committed against blacks, a group of white liberals that included Mary White Ovington and Oswald Garrison Villard, both the descendants of abolitionists, William English Walling and Dr. Henry Moscowitz issued a call for a meeting to discuss racial justice. Some 60 people, seven of whom were African American (including W. E. B. Du Bois, Ida B. Wells-Barnett and Mary Church Terrell), signed the call, which was released on the centennial of Lincoln's birth." So let me break it down for you Mrs. Williams, a group of white people organized a group to figure out a call of action to stop racial injustices against blacks. So Mrs. Williams these were not blacks starting a radical organization for just blacks to fight the white man like the KukluxKlan have formulated their group to kill us all, even YOU! This is a group of PEOPLE striving for change. A group of PEOPLE helping the communities. Tired of being read? Oh I'm almost finished ma'am. Jesse Williams entire speech was about people like you! I charge you to rewatch the speech with a third eye opened and an open heart to fully understand. And Mrs. Williams you of all people should know better being that you are raising a black son in America. I notice how you didn't say anything about Black Entertainment Television, you know the network that promotes black entertainment, you know the network that signs your paychecks. Mrs. Williams to say I am disappointed in you is light, I am beyond disappointed however I do realize my opinions over your life and outlet mean nothing. You are entitled to your own opinions but next time instead of downing and shaming your own, remember you're still another black person to Them! Sincerely, Taler B, an old WW fan. Black Entertainment Televison (BET) are strong supporters of HBCUs, NAACP and Jesse Williams. If Wendy Williams is against this all she no longer needs her show on BET!
