The new student assignment plan for Wake County Public School system for 2019-20,  has forgotten about families wanting Traditional calendar due to pressing reasons. Such as, multiple children on different schedules and financial impacts due to trying to arrange for child care every 9 weeks. 

Providence Place, Brekenridge, Bexley and Town Hall north residents have been on the receiving end of this change. Our traditional calendar option for K-5 is Powell Elementary school, which is 20 miles from our houses. In no way this can qualify on proximity criteria. There are 2 traditional calendar schools closer - Cedar Fork Elementary school,Green Hope Elementary school and Hortons Creek ES.  

We want the school board to reconsider and OPEN PARKESIDE ELEMENTARY as TRADITIONAL calendar or add cedar fork or green hope back as our traditional base. To support a few other neighbourhood’s problems with farther MS should not turn into a problem in our school moved farther away. This is very biased approach and we want the decision to be reconsidered.
