The latest surge of COVID cases throughout the country is attributed to the highly contagious delta variant. As we all know delta variant has created a public health emergency in parts in the United States.
Wake county public school system (WCPSS) does not seem to realize the seriousness of the rising COVID cases in Wake County. They are denying WCPSS families the option of choosing virtual learning. Thousands of WCPSS students under 12 years who are  NOT eligible to be vaccinated are being forced to attend school in-person due to lack of choice. 
         Schools do not have the ability to achieve social distancing when 93% of students attend in-person. The school hallways are crowded, classrooms are full, unmasked kids eat at crowded cafeterias putting students at higher risk of getting exposed. The school environment at this time is unsafe for our children. We need a virtual learning option. 
    Please sign this petition to ask WCPSS superintendent and the Board of Education to take action to open more spots in the Virtual Academy option for WCPSS students for Fall 2021. WCPSS had a virtual learning option in place last year for a large number of students and they have the ability to do this again.
