Rename the Community Arts Auditorium to Aretha Franklin Hall

Rename the Community Arts Auditorium to Aretha Franklin Hall

The Issue

In 1990, Wayne State University awarded Aretha Franklin an honorary degree. The center to study to music in Detroit, Wayne State University and the Cass Corridor area has been a conduit for many famous musicians to rise to greatness. Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, was one of them.

Her legacy will live on and broadcast the power of Detroit music across the world. Despite her greatness and commitment to the city and its people, there is not one building named after.

This petition compels Wayne State University to pay tribute to the Queen of Soul by naming the Community Arts Auditorium to Aretha Franklin Hall. Doing this will not only establish Aretha's legacy in Detroit but also remind the city of her connection to Wayne State University.
