The Issue

On behalf of the innocent and voiceless horses that suffered and died we ask Wayne County, NC to charge and prosecute Andrea Pendergrass for animal cruelty.    She willfully and knowingly denied the animals in her care necessary sustenance and allowed them to die the slow and painful death of starvation.

As early as May 2012 complaints were made to Wayne county Animal Control regarding the emaciated condition of the horses in Andrea Pendergrass' care.  Multiple complaints were filed with Animal Control over the last year and a half without any change in the condition of the horses at Avalon Stables.

On January 31st, 2014 two horses who had been down for over 24 hours died at her facility from starvation.  A third horse was euthanized.  Two others, both in very poor condition, were removed by a rescue organization to an area veterinarian for treatment and three others, also emaciated, were relocated.  Seven horses in all have died while in Andrea Pendergrass' care over the last six months.  Please charge and prosecute her for these crimes so she may never do this to another animal.
