Just over a week ago the community of Wayne County was shocked to learn the Wayne County Republican Committee nominated a man, Jeffrey Grieve, who while as Chief Deputy of Wayne County was surrounded by controversy and subsequently voted out of office by that same community at a 3 to 1 margin. This nomination was made over Wayne County Detective Sergeant Chris Otey, a well respected and born & raised citizen of Wayne County. Immediately the law enforcement community in Wayne County began to speak out, calling board members, speaking to its citizens and attending the board meeting to express their disappointment in the selection and support for Detective Sgt. Otey, but their voices cannot be the only ones heard. With this petition we are asking you to do the same. Your signature to this petition would be a call for the Wayne County Board to vote NO to Jeffrey Grieve and YES to Detective Sgt. Chris Otey! Our community deserves a smooth transition of power, not controversy and turmoil, to allow Deputies to continue their efforts in creating a safe environment for all of us to live!
