We, the Scouting community of Converse, TX urge Troop 512 and the Alamo Area Council to reject the Boy Scouts of America's anti-gay policy on adults.

Our family was just told that my partner and I could not be members of the new troop 512 because of our sexual orientation but our son could stay. I find this sad since we have been members of scouts for 8 years and all of a sudden it became an issue. In other words we could no longer support our son the way we had since he became a Tiger Cub. He is less than a year away from becoming an Eagle Scout. He has decided on his own that he will no longer be a member of an organization with these values despite all of the effort and time he has put in. This is sad Boy Scouts of Amerca, why are we teaching children to discriminate against others? We need as much help as possible to stop the bigotry that is promoted through this organization. Please sign our petition and get this rule changed for the sake of these boys.

We were encouraged by the Boy Scouts' vote to end the ban on gay youth, but it's ridiculous to kick out some of the Boy Scouts' most active and loyal adult members, just because they're gay. And doing so sends a dangerous message to the young people Scouting serves.

We love the Boy Scouts, but we can’t support this policy. That's why we urge you to speak out and adopt a fully inclusive adult leader policy like other troops, packs, councils, and lodges across the country have done -- so the Boy Scouts can maintain its relevancy, improve recruitment, and truly live by the principles it teaches its members.
