Petition updateStop Terrence Wall's Downtown Waunakee, Wisconsin Luxury Apartment ComplexFinal Reminder about the Two Meetings Tomorrow (Monday) Evening

Good evening petition signers, The village is beginning the Wall project process with the potential creation of a downtown TIF district (TIF #8) that includes the proposed development site. Tomorrow evening (Monday), we have our opportunity to voice our concerns to the village. The proposed TIF district would allow the village give funding grants for the Wall "redevelopment" project and others in the future. It would encourage developers like Terrence Wall to tear down additional residential areas of Main Street by reducing their initial cost. At tomorrow (Monday) night's Plan Commission meeting, which will be held at Village Hall at 6 pm, we want as many people as we can get in the meeting room. We need to send the village a clear and urgent message that this will not stand. We need to show the village how we as citizens feel about this, and that this is not just a petition, but a movement that continues to gain steam. If this TIF district gets approved, we will ramp up our efforts to continue spreading our message. We will encourage voters to vote for Erin and Joe as village trustees, and citizens to continue attending meetings and hearings. The village will try to push this proposal through, so we need to ensure our concerns are considered thoroughly prior to any action being taken. Not only that, but the village and town of Westport had a brilliant idea in that two Plan Commission meetings in neighboring municipalities are scheduled within an hour of each other, which is ridiculous and creates an inability for individuals to attend both meetings. Westport's Plan Commission meeting will be related to a variety of topics, but the one primarily on our mind is the Inspire daycare. Tomorrow (Monday) evening's meeting (7 pm, Westport Town Hall, Mary Lake Road) will be related to final size, landscaping, and design elements. The daycare will have twice as many students as Mr. Davis's existing daycare in an area that has twice the traffic as his existing Burke location. It surprises us that no one on the Plan Commission brought up any concerns with traffic (400 new students + staff = 400 more cars at rush hour) and did not direct Mr. Davis to finding another site within the town, such as on River Road (where there is land for sale), which has less than half of the traffic of Highway M. While site approval has already occurred, we still have an opportunity to voice concerns about traffic and size, and potentially reduce the projected enrollment numbers. There is a potential for Dane County supervisors to be in attendance at the Westport meeting, so it would be an excellent opportunity to voice concerns on the daycare, Wall project / TIF #8, and Bishop's Bay to a higher government body. Either way, attending one of the meetings shows the village and town that we as citizens care about the projects in question and our respective communities, and we all want to have a front seat on what happens. We hope to see many of you at either of the meetings and that a large number of you provided comments and feedback to officials. Agendas for each of the meetings are linked below.
