During these unusual times, many students are falling behind in their classes. Asking a teacher or peer for help isn't as easy as it used to be. Lots of kids feel isolated and are overwhelmed with the workload they've been given. Replacing Friday's normally scheduled classes with office hours hosted by teachers would give struggling students the opportunity to ask questions and get the one-on-one help they desperately need. Students could also use this time to finish missing assignments to improve their grades. Teachers could also create and monitor breakout rooms so classmates could collaborate on work, assist each other, and socialize. This free time would help teachers too. They could grade assignments and plan lessons in between their one-on-one sessions with students. A day to catch up would likely raise the grades of the student body and allow more time for productivity for the staff.
