Bilberry Goats Heritage Trust
26 Sept 2021
The DNA analysis of an all-Ireland goat survery, which was carried out over seven years by WetherbysIreland/UCD, ended in 2015.
It showed the Bilberry Goats to be a 'unique' breed, native to the area of Bilberry, in Waterford, Ireland. This 'unique' breed is now on the brink of extinction due to our local Council, who want to take them from part of what was their original Habitat to an Open Space area (this area has no grazing rights whatsoever and can be used for anything or for anyone as the need arises). Please sign Petition for Protection Status, from our City Council, as this will be ratified by Europe and will afford the Bilberry Goat s a return to their original Habitat, for generations to come.
