Daylight savings time has minimal impact on energy savings, and workplace accidents increase due to tired workers.  The detriment to sleep cycles and difficulty for people adjusting to the change causes more loss in worker productivity than the minimal benefit it may provide. Many studies indicate there is a loss of worker productivity and an increase in the number of traffic and work related accidents following the time change necessitated by daylight savings.  People with natural sleep cycles may have a hard time adjusting for several weeks.  Any benefit previously afforded by energy savings is offset by the cost in accidents and productivity loss. This petition is to encourage Washington State to adopt policies similar to Arizona, counties in Indiana, and others considering this such as Michigan to eliminate daylight savings time.
