Petition to end suspension of Felicia Sonmez

Petition to end suspension of Felicia Sonmez
The Issue
On Sunday, Felicia Sonmez was suspended from The Washington Post for tweeting a link to an article about the Kobe Bryant rape case after he passed away. By suspending Ms. Sonmez, The Washington Post makes it clear that they would rather celebrate and mourn a successful rapist than report on the truth: Kobe Bryant was a gifted basketball player, father, husband, and rapist. His accomplishments in life do not negate his heinous actions.
Ms. Sonmez did absolutely nothing wrong by drawing attention to his past crimes. She gave a voice to those around the country who have been sexually assaulted.
It is shameful for The Washington Post to have suspended her for this especially after she received 10,000 death threats and abusive messages after the fact. What she did was brave and deserves to be rewarded and not condemned.
Please add your support to this petition if you believe that victims should be believed and that those that stand up for victims should not be condemned for doing so.
