Sunday March 1,2015 when I let my dog, Dutch, out to use the bathroom on our 3 acres out in the country in Washington Parish Louisiana It was about 2:00pm. A few minutes later I heard 3 rapid gunshots. I immediately started looking for Dutch. I found him, dead, behind my house in a little field that belongs to us. I asked my neighbor, Kyle Gornor, who lives behind me and was outside, who shot my dog. He replied "that would be me". I asked him why and he replied that my dog was trying to get his chickens, which were also sitting on the back side of MY property. My dog was laying approximately 65 feet from his chicken cage on my property. There was no blood or anything near his chickens. Not even a feather out of place. The farthest blood found was about 3 feet from my dog. His entire back side had been blown apart. He was shot with buckshot, which anyone who hunts knows, it scatters when fired. All of the shots hit my dog which leads me to believe he chased my dog onto my back field to kill him at close range. The Washington Parish sheriff's office was called and nothing was done except for a referral to the justice of the peace. March 3,2015 at 9am I was served with a citation for Leash Law Violation. They said that the man who shot my dog would be cited for animal cruelty and just let the Washington Parish DA's office sort it out. So we go to court May 12,2015 at 9am. This is wrong and people should be stopped from killing other people's animals. In the 5 minutes my Dutch was outside there wasn't enough time for him to tear open a chicken cage and dig up the ground around it. His paws, by the way, were clean. No dirt ground in them from digging. I This man has/had absolutely no proof my dog did any harm to his livestock or even went on his property.
