In the very same week that they are criticising HS2, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust have started felling ancient trees in this very important woodland.
They are completely ignoring the pleas of local people and the woodland experts who have advised against any action. They have reneged on promises they made to the Forestry Commission that they would work with local tree wardens who know the wood intimately.
The trees they are felling are known to support very rare moths and endangered bird species.
They claim that this is just a trial to see what will happen, but then clearly state that it will improve the biodiversity of the wood. Experts have suggested that the so-called trial will prove nothing and may do more harm than good.
Conservationists, who have studied the species that are present, believe many of them are only there because the wood has been unmanaged for around 100 years and their precious habitat is being destroyed.
How can people who profess to care about protecting wildlife be allowed to do this?
It is not only wildlife habitat being lost, but thousands of pounds worth of vitally important public amenity and stored carbon.
