We have purposely kept the petition local and mainly to the people who actually know this wood.

If you have been following our Updates, you will know that we have also received support and advice from not just local wildlife experts, but also nationally respected woodland ecologists, bird, moth and fungi experts.

If you have just joined, do look at the 'More Updates' at the bottom of the current one, they are all on there with other photos.

The Wildlife Trust has never carried out the public consultation they promised, but they have just announced that they will be holding a 'Piles Coppice and Brandon Reach Management Community Meeting' which has been publicised on Binley Woods Parish Council website. It is on the 27th July at 6.30pm at Binley Woods Junior School. It is addressed to stakeholders and partners and although we were originally considered to be stakeholders, we do not seem to have received an invite.

So, if you are one of the many local people who have signed our petition, don't like the fact that your signature counts for nothing and you are free on the 27th, do register to attend this meeting and help us make our feelings known.

The link to register is:-

Please note that this meeting covers other woods in Brandon Reach where felling is also planned and with which we also strongly disagree.

Anyone who has walked in Piles Coppice recently in the extreme heat will know how the wood is protecting us and its microclimates by its wonderful canopy. See photo.

This canopy is vitally important and must be kept intact to protect this precious woodland habitat against climate change and pollution.
