To everyone who is continuing to try and help us save this very special woodland, our thanks to you for signing and for all your supportive comments. Latest photo shows its anemones and celandines.
Here are some of the questions:-
Why cannot this one, small, unique woodland be left to Nature?
Why change a 30 year policy of non-intervention? The wood has not changed and saving trees is so very important for our planet.
The wood has a Tree Preservation Order, so why are its protected ancient trees going to be felled?
Why use plans for standard woodland management for timber production when this ancient wood is anything but standard?
Why are the public not being consulted about the plans?
Why are huge rides being cut into the wood other than to provide access for felling machinery?
Why is current scientific evidence on the importance of keeping canopy to protect against Climate Change being ignored?
How can the destruction of habitat and the many species that depend on it be justified by a wildlife charity?
Previously coppiced Small-leaved Limes that have matured are rare and very valuable. Also of importance are the ancient Rowan, Crab Apple, Cherry, Field Maple and Midland Thorn trees, plus all the species that are living in them. Do they even know where these trees are?
Why is clearance planned in the area of the Iron Age enclosure? Do they know where this is?
Why cannot this wood just be celebrated for the amazing phenomenon it is now?
