Speed bumps to increase safety

Speed bumps to increase safety
The Issue
After living on Tachbrook Street, Leamington for five years now I’ve become very familiar with the increasing traffic that comes down my road everyday, that I have no complaints about. What I find absolutely appalling is the speed at which a large percentage of vehicles come down this road at, they avoid the parallel road St Helens due to the speed bumps so instead go full speed down here.
As a mother of two young children I frequently worry about crossing the road with them due to vehicles coming out of nowhere, no matter how cautious you are, a car can go much faster than a person. Not only do these worries resonate with myself and others close by but we’ve also witnessed at least 3 vehicle and pedestrian related incidents over the last 5 years mainly down to the speed. This may not be a concern to all but for me the risk to wildlife has now become an additional worry, only yesterday did I witness a poor squirrel hit by a vehicle (not the first either) unfortunately it was beyond help but I took it upon myself to move it somewhere safe and out of sight of the public and predators, nobody wants to see that and especially with a large family community it’s an upsetting experience.
Having three primary schools close by, my street is frequently used by school children and their families who are at a great risk when crossing the road on their way to school due to the ridiculous speeds, there is no exception and something needs to change.
I want to feel safe in my community, I want my neighbours and their families and friends to feel the same security which is why I’m asking Warwickshire County Council to put speed bumps on Tachbrook Street and reduce the increasing threat to people and all animals.
If you’ve come this far then thank you and please support a growing community and make it safer for all, if we can make some kind of difference it will mean a lot to myself and my neighbours who express the same fears.
