Protect Tapping Way from Unauthorised Encampments

Protect Tapping Way from Unauthorised Encampments

The Issue

Chase Meadow has endured several unauthorised traveller encampments on Tapping Way in recent years, each time causing damage, mess, thefts, distress, and great expense. The most serious was in July 2017 with 3 separate incursions in the space of a week, with up to 27 caravans breaking through the fence on Tapping Way and onto the park.

Despite the recent announcement by Warwick District Council of a £170,000 budget to install measures to prevent traveller encampments around Warwick, none of this has been allocated towards helping Chase Meadow.

Taylor Wimpey have now done their part to protect the park, but the Tapping Way verges and pavement are still vulnerable to encampments and are the responsibility of Warwickshire County Council as the highway authority.

Please support our petition for Warwickshire County Council to install measures (bollards or large rocks) along Tapping Way to prevent any further unauthorised encampments.

Anyone who lives or works in Warwickshire can sign, including those under 18 years of age.
