Reject the two 78 metre Meriton skyscrapers to be built in Dee Why

Reject the two 78 metre Meriton skyscrapers to be built in Dee Why
The issue
In 2008, Warringah Council's Dee Why Masterplan increased height zoning in Dee Why to 18 storeys, or a huge 78 metres tall.
Meriton has bought a site and is going to build two 78 metre or 19 storey buildings affecting Pittwater Road, Oaks Avenue and Howard Avenue in Dee Why.
This new height is more than double the height of existing buildings in the entire area and sets a dangerous precedent for everyone who enjoys the quiet community that is the Northern Beaches.
This will adversely affect all northern beaches residents due to:
1) Significant traffic congestion, in an area that is already a bottleneck all day, every day.
2) Massive overshadowing of the entire Dee Why Area.
3) Dangerous precent, with Dee Why becoming the Northern Beaches' new 'Chatswood' or city, with high rises that are completely out of character with the rest of the area. Where else will they try to sneak these high rises into? Once it starts, it will creep into other suburbs.
4) Significant strain on public transport systems that are already inadequate for the area.
5) Complete lack of infrustructure to cope with the increase in residents/traffic.
6) Parking is already nearly impossible in Dee Why, this will make it ever more so.
Dee Why is already an overbuilt eyesore, adding highrises that stick out like sore thumbs to it will make it even more so. Any developments in the area need to be in keeping with the overall feel and character of the Northern Beaches. Buildings need to be built at existing height levels and no higher.
THE RATE-PAYING COMMUNITY DOES NOT WANT HIGHRISES ON THE NORTHERN BEACHES.
