A petition to ask Warner Media to release the #SnyderCut theatrically in the Middle East
The Issue
SUMMARY: The Middle East still has no distribution plans, and there seems to be a lot of misconception around here that the #SnyderCut is getting a theatrical window on March 18. So, we, fans who campaigned years for and are really eager to watch the movie in the best possible way and get the best possible experience, think that a theatrical distribution, preferably IMAX, even if for a limited time, would be the best possible way and solution in a place where streaming isn’t that of a widespread concept anyway as much as the theatrical experience. And of course, because it’s the IMAX EXPERIENCE!
-----------------------------------------------------------
We’re finally getting the #SnyderCut next month. What a journey and what a long way. And what better way, and scenario, to wait all this and get the best possible experience from viewing it?
Warner Media announced the #SnyderCut on May 20, 2020, and announced that it would be exclusive to their streaming service, HBO Max, with a promise that a distribution plan is to be put in consideration and is worked on, by director Zack Snyder, for all the people out there that campaigned for it and wanted to watch it. Although we’ve always imagined experiencing it on the biggest screen possible, IMAX, it was still a win regardless and what mattered was that we get to see it. So, we were happy and accepted it with hope that it could possibly get a limited theatrical window at some point.
As time went by, and as the pandemic further extended its stay with us, it was announced that WB’s whole 2021 movie slate would be a simultaneous release, between a theatrical window and HBO Max, starting with WW84. One couldn’t help but imagine how that could be a chance for the #SnyderCut to be included in that slate. However, it wasn’t, despite the little teases from director Zack Snyder along the way (I believe it’s happening locally and that’s what the director probably meant).
Additionally, HBO Max’s content doesn’t fully meet the standards and ethics/ideologies of the Middle East, so it’ll take more time to make a deal out of it. And when that time comes it won’t be in time. We are now one month away from the movie, and despite reports that the #SnyderCut would be distributed through OSN in the Middle East, we’re now out of the scope of distribution plans with no official confirmations for the distribution, from Warner Media, and with OSN confirming that “HBO Max has no plans to distribute outside HBO Max”. One can’t help but ask Warner Media to release it theatrically in the Middle East, even if for a limited release. There seems to be a confusion or a kind of misconception in a lot of comments in fan pages, theater pages, and other pages, people think the movie is coming theatrically! So why miss the chance? A lot of people here want to watch the #SnyderCut theatrically and are willing to! Many people are asking IMAX in the Middle East, in comments and posts, to possibly try and make a distribution deal and show it. I, and we, fans eager to watch the movie, believe that a theatrical window is the best possible way for the Middle East to watch the #SnyderCut, where the concept of streaming isn’t that spread as much as the theater experience.
