Presenting Marie Cadherin, Riley’s mother! ��

Riley’s the spitting image of her, aside from her membrane being much lighter-colored. A sensory cell as well, Marie was one of the best Hector had to offer. And sensory cells are very in-tune with the body in my work, able to experience what Hector experiences on the outside by touching a wall tissue or nerve ending. Marie was in charge of recording what Hector saw, heard, tasted, touched, and smelled when he was very young, and would send the information from her findings to The Brain. The info consists of what he finds appealing, what sounds he likes to listen to, his favorite foods, and how he reacts to certain stimuli. All to help Hector grow and develop!

Marie was as kind, patient, and understanding as they come. She loved to read, she enjoyed nature, and saw beauty in even the ugliest/weirdest of things. She had a razor wit, and was dedicated to her job, the body, and of course, her family. She was deeply in love with her husband Peter, who was an officer at the HPD. She loved her son Kevin, though finds his sometimes-reckless/overzealous actions a little over the top, and kept him modest when his confidence gets the best of him. He listened well to her, and cared for her and looked out for Riley for her. She sometimes got embarrassed by her mother Sharon’s more devil-may-care attitude, but had a strong relationship with her nonetheless.

She and Riley were very close, and she always encouraged her to stay true to herself. All Riley has left of her is a necklace she wore when she was her age.

Her outfit is inspired by the one in the comic @dymitr3 made for me about Riley’s school dance, a nod to how Riley at that point looks so much like her. Character inspiration for Marie is my own mother, Queen Arianna from Tangled, Kira from Rugrats In Paris, Lily Potter, and Julieta Madrigal from Encanto.
