Warner Bros. Please Finish and Release the "Batgirl" film.

The Issue

DC is one of the leading publishers of comics and comic entertainment globally. Recently an announcement to shelve the film "Batgirl" and use it as a tax write-off instead of a release on streaming services is a significant concern for fans of DC. In a time when DC truly needs a curator to combine multiple movies into the same universe with some consistency, we the fans lose the opportunity to see Batgirl.

Gotham Knights, the game, has recently released a trailer for "Batgirl" and fans are looking forward to the opportunity to play an iconic character. It's not fair this icon is ripped away from fans in the entertainment universe in the form of her own movie. This would be the best time to try and get the film finished to combine with or shortly after the launch of the game to maximize popularity, merchandise, and profits. It is a win for shareholders, creators, and fans.

It seems every time DC is about to get a true win, a decision is made to cut out what the fans would want. Please reverse course on this decision so we can see the glory of "Batgirl" in her own right. A character that is important in the universe of Batman and Gotham City.

Covid and Monkeypox are on the rise again and choosing a theatrical release instead of a streaming release or dual release could prove to be a risky investment. It would be disappointing to see a major theatrical release flop because future foresight isn't in the thoughts of those in charge. Timing is very hard to predict right now with different ordinances, outbreaks, and laws. Fans look forward to streaming releases just as much now and it has been successful for Disney+ another global leader in entertainment.

Staking the future of DC only on theatrical releases could harm the franchises in the short-term financially. That is why it is important to think of streaming as a viable option. It sells the service. It sells merchandise. It brings content to people who cannot get out of the house.

With all of this said, Please consider reversing the decision to shelve "Batgirl" and deliver on what fans want in entertainment.
