Give Daffy Duck a Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame.

The Issue

Please note, the very end of this piece of writing is absolutely crucial. Please be sure to read it in order to understand what you are capable of doing in order to make this event finally happen.

Since 1978, we have had cartoon characters on the Hollywood Walk of Fame beginning with Mickey Mouse. Along the way, we have got more iconic cartoon characters on the Walk of Fame including Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh, and of course, Bugs Bunny. Donald Duck has always been the rival of Mickey Mouse in a way, and he has been a character that has demanded the spotlight since the 1930s. Eventually, Donald finally got his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame nearby his good pal Mickey's star. Similarly, Bugs Bunny has a best friend/rival who has been demanding the spotlight since the Golden Age of Hollywood: Daffy Duck.

One of the most acclaimed cartoon characters of all time, Daffy Duck has been with us for nearly 83 years now. That's longer than many celebrities with their own stars on the Walk of Fame. He has engaged audiences since his very debut in Porky's Duck Hunt (1937) and gained popularity very quick. Daffy remains popular even to this day with The Looney Tunes Show being a great success and being one of Warner Bros most iconic characters with "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down" theme song as a main staple for him. He has been worked on by some of the most acclaimed animators of all time such as Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett, and of course, legendary Chuck Jones. In 2002, CNN had placed him as the #14 greatest cartoon character of all time. Daffy was involved in some hit movies including Space Jam, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, and Daffy Duck's Quackbusters. He has been parodied many times and had many cameos in other media. He has been involved in many cartoons alongside Bugs Bunny and has also had one of his cartoons, Duck Amuck, be put into the National Film Registry in 1999. Daffy has been put on a postage stamp that same year (and April 16 has been considered by Johnny Grant to be National Daffy Duck Day), has had him put at bat on an image with Boston Red Sox player Tim Wakefield for children's charity, and has supported hospitals and sick children with his image donated by Warner Bros themselves. He even stands alongside Bugs at Six Flags, has stood beside Bugs at many recent live shows, and has even danced alongside Bugs in The Bugs Bunny Show. Daffy has even inspired other cartoon characters such as Woody Woodpecker, which currently has his own star on the Walk of Fame. Daffy even, in a way, inspired Bugs himself.

Many other cartoon characters including Spongebob, Goofy, Betty Boop, Bimbo, and Tom & Jerry are also very deserving their own stars on the Walk of Fame. However, Daffy has been demanding the same honor and glory that Bugs has gotten for many decades. Since we already got one of the most popular ducks of all time his own star, why not get the other one, Daffy, his own star within the next few years? He's even Steven Spielberg's favorite cartoon character! He is also Doug Walker's (Nostalgia Critic) favorite Looney Tunes character. He has also had one of the most acclaimed voice actors who ever lived, Mel Blanc, voice him for an astounding 52 years! It is safe to say that Daffy is the second most popular and well known Looney Tunes characters of all time, second only to Bugs. Daffy has also given a lot of revenue and help to Warner Bros as well. We should recognize what a wonderful cartoon character Daffy Duck is, since he has always had such a great variety in personality, character, and even talent. We nearly got him his own star in 2012, but it must have been disapproved by one of the committees. In fact, you can see the documents that were in progress for this to happen here: https://cityclerk.lacity.org/lacityclerkconnect/index.cfm?fa=ccfi.viewrecord&cfnumber=12-1559

Please everyone, it would mean a lot. Daffy Duck is actually my favorite cartoon character (if you haven't guessed haha). I even have him painted on my wall as a mural painting! I have been demanding that he gets his own star on the Walk of Fame for years because I truly think he deserves it. After all, Bugs Bunny is the only Looney Tunes character to have his own star, and the Looney Tunes are some of the most popular and iconic cartoons characters of all time. I would truly and from the heart love the help you could give into making this happen. If you could spread the word about this idea and achieve as many signatures as we can, maybe it could happen in 2022 for his 85th birthday. Or maybe even earlier than that in 2021! Another way to make this work is by nominating him at http://www.walkoffame.com/pages/nominations, that is of course when the nomination period begins again. More than likely, it will open up this April 2020. So when that time comes, make sure you nominate Daffy Duck for a star for 2021!

That's all folks! And thank you :)
