We are deeply saddened at the news that legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy is not going to be asked back to reprise his role of Batman in the next installment of the beloved Arkham franchise.
First came word that this would not be a follow up to Arkham City, but rather a Prequel, nor would the long time Batman writer Paul Dini be coming back. Then the developers of the first two games, Rocksteady, had to pass the torch to a new company, WB Montreal, to once again bring fans back to the world of Batman. But many fans were saddened by this change of hands. Rocksteady knew the key to success was the source material, and the nostalgia factor.
One of the reasons this franchise is such a success is having Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as Joker. Not having either one of them in this game really is a blow to many fans.
The reputation of the hailed Batman Arkham series will be decreased in our eyes, and we are saddened that while WB Montreal seems willing to please the fans, they are making a decision that will forever change the continuity of our beloved franchise.
I urge you to bring back Kevin Conroy to voice Batman to keep continuity in the Arkhamverse intact. Through Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and even Injustice Gods Among Us (featuring character designs from the Arkham series) Kevin has voiced Batman, and fans of many generations now hear that voice and instantly know it's The Batman! Batman being younger in the new game sounds like a great direction, but he's still an adult. It's not like he is going through puberty, so why would his voice change in adulthood? Changing voice actors mid-stream seems more like a quick cash grab, then really wanting to stay true to the character and tone set in the previous games.
Again, I implore you Warner Bros. Entertainment & Warner Bros. Montreal, please bring back Kevin Conroy as Batman in Arkham Origins.
Thank you for your time.
