Petition updateGet Google to Activate Trash & Hazard Reporting5 Reasons Why Everyone In Tech Should Support World Cleanup Day

Hi everyone,

As you know, we've been getting ready to usher in World Cleanup Day on September 15.  The goal of World Cleanup Day is to get 5% of the world's population (so about 380,000,000 people!) to take part in litter mapping and litter cleanup activities.

This is a very lofty goal, but it's doable. For the first time in history, we have the technology to reach global scales almost instantaneously. #WorldCleanupDay success hinges on outreach efforts like these.

What tools are World Cleanup Day volunteers currently using to map litter hotspots and illegal dumpsites?  You guessed it: lots of different CleanApp-type apps.  @WorldCleanupDay also has its own app.

As you can tell, there's still a huge need for a single global litter/waste mapping platform that makes CleanApping extremely easy for billions of people. With so many different CleanApps being deployed globally, there's an urgent need for shared standards & basic data sharing protocols.

OUR petition is at the heart of this global conversation.

We're doing everything within our power to highlight the value of a harmonized and collaborative approach to this problem.  And that includes outreach to different tech communities to explain why World Cleanup Day is a huge opportunity that is not to be missed.

We recently wrote a short piece titled "Five Reasons Why Everyone in Tech Should Celebrate World Cleanup Day."  We'd like to share it with you and ask for your feedback, critiques, suggestions and so on.

In our view #WorldCleanupDay = CleanApp, & vice versa. A successful World Cleanup Day on September 15 benefits everyone, and it moves US closer to the goal of our petition: finally getting the tools we need to clean our planet.

Thank you,

@CleanApp
