Drilis Ertugral, Kurulus Osman, Kurulus Orhan. 12 years of legacy, 1400+episodes, 3 generations. It's not just a series. It's a life time of connections with millions worldwide throughout Turkiye, the Subcontinent, and the Middle East, through sharing a single screen.

The legacy has reached here. But many remember where it started. Some watched from 2014. Others during lockdown. A few after everything was over. But it didn't matter when you watched it. Because when you did, ask anyone, they'll tell you they never felt this way about a series before. 

This universe gave us an incredible historical journey that honestly felt like part of our lives for years. That’s exactly why it hurts a little when many viewers feel the original historical atmosphere slowly got replaced with more modern drama-style storytelling. The story itself was still strong, but at times the writing felt like it was trying so hard to balance everything that it lost a bit of the grounded feel that made it special in the first place. And no, this isn’t about blaming anyone. Everyone involved clearly worked hard, from the writers to the actors, all doing their jobs and trying to bring a massive story to life in today’s format. It’s just that sometimes fans feel caught in the middle like, “wait… why does it feel like we're watching a Romance slice of life?" Still, the love for these characters and their world remains real. 

The cast was amazing. Everyone's acting was superb. But sometimes, the script went it's own way. Writing of dialogue, is just as important as the story itself, and the character portrayal, defines how the viewers see the protagonist, as well as the supporting characters.

This portrayal, especially of main characters such as Orhan Ghazi and Nilufer Hatun, was made to highlight other supporting characters. This may be one of the main reasons the show concluded with one season, as opposed to Kurulus Osman, which had 6 seasons.

As someone who's entire childhood was gripped in watching these legends. Learning about their victories. Yelling at the screen. Waiting for a new episode every week while arguing with myself about which episode to rewatch while I wait 😅. And loving every second of it 💖, I feel like it's not only my wish, but the wish of millions who feel the same way, to see these historically significant figures receive the love and recognition they most certainly deserve, and be portrayed as such.
