Permanent pedestrianisation of Old York Road, Wandsworth. 

Due to COVID-19, Wandsworth Council have temporarily pedestrianised Old York Road to support local businesses. This is a request to the council to make this permanent in order to: 

• Support local businesses longer term with extended service areas outdoors. OYR has already had two business closures (Pizza Express, Brew) and we want to protect local businesses as much as possible from future financial uncertainty.
• Permanently reduce noise pollution and make the road safer with very high local footfall (to supermarket, shops etc).
• Lower emissions in residential area - whilst the ULEZ expansion is coming in October 2021, there is still unjustifiable traffic on OYR, which is used as a shortcut from the A217 road. This is expected to get much worse with the new L&G development (old homebase) - a 1000 home development due to complete in 2024. 
• Stronger community spirit, enjoying the outdoor space that not only attracts local residents but other visitors from across London to come and visit OYR, boosting our local economy. 

The pedestrianisation is due to end mid October and look forward to your response ahead of this time.
