remake Wayne Barlowe's "Expedition'' into a film
The Issue
In 1990, Wayne Barlowe wrote and published the book Expedition, a fantastic sci-fi novel featuring full-color paintings (done by, you guessed it, Wayne Barlowe). The book's plot involved earth becoming too polluted, and a space team composed of benign aliens and humans discovering an unknown alien planet, Darwin IV. The planet's wildlife was vast and incredible, each individual painting of each individual creature a tactile, aesthetic delight.
The book had become so increasingly popular that discovery channel made a documentary inspired by it, titled "Alien Planet''. The documentary featured Barlowe's titular planet and creatures, but was otherwise vastly different, with much changes being made, most of which were rather poor choices if you ask me. After that the legacy of Barlowe's awe-inspiring beasts died down, as they were nigh forgotten, slowly enveloped by obscurity. If you ask me, I strongly believe in the book being remade into a full-length feature film.
Now, of course, you ask, "why should DISNEY make this?''. My answer is that Disney's wildlife films (I.E. the jungle book remake) and space films (the past 3 star wars movies) were all spectacular (in my opinion). Not to mention, when remaking something, Disney is always faithful to the original's plot, with some minor and unnoticeable changes here and there. If Disney wanted to, and tried their hardest, they could make Expedition a fantastic treat for the eyes and screen, unlike the eyesore that was Alien Planet.
With this in mind, I ask for your signature, and let's make Expedition great again!
