Walsh University LGBTQ+ deserve community support and resources.

The Issue

With the recent events surrounding Walsh University and the LGBTQ+ community, one thing has been made abundantly clear - Walsh lacks resources, acceptance and inclusion for its LGBTQ+ population.

For years students have advocated to have an LGBTQ+ club or organization that shows students there is a place for them at every table. With pushback and maybes there has been little to no success. If Walsh University does not want to admit to their discriminatory actions, they need to at least be open and honest about the lack of resources their LGBTQ+ students have.

The aim of this petition is to call on Walsh University to allow and accept an LGBTQ+ club on their campus and to give such club the support, both emotionally and financially, that all the other clubs on campus have access to. Without this support students find themselves lost, excluded and unaccepted.

As Walsh University pushes their commitment to community, diversity and inclusivity this part of the population cannot be forgotten. Students, alum and faculty have all made it abundantly clear that this is a community in need. LGBTQ+ students, who pay their tuition just like cis-gendered heterosexual students, are not supported OR protected by the administration like their cis-gendered and heterosexual peers.

This petition serves as a request to the administration to allow for the creation of a SUPPORTED and FUNDED club for the LGBTQ+ population and their allies.

Many other Catholic Universities across the United States have resources for their LGBTQ+ students. Walsh cannot hide behind the 'Catholic' blanket anymore. These are real people who feel excluded and unsupported by the community that Walsh University promotes.

Stand together, stand with you peers and make Walsh University a place that accepts, loves and supports every single one of their students.
