Plastic bags are suffocating our planet!  Every week, Walmart has 265 million customers globally.  Every year, they hand out 20-billion plastic bags that end up in our oceans, water supply, and landfills.  These plastic bags can take anywhere from 20 to 1,000 years to decompose!

Our precious wildlife is dying by the thousands because of these single-use plastic bags that could easily be replaced with reusable ones.  Over 100,000 marine animals and one million birds are killed each year because of this oversight.

As lovers of our planet, we are asking the Walmart CEO to stop giving away free plastic bags to every customer who buys something from your stores.  One solution could be for people to bring reusable bags into the store with the option to buy plastic bags if they forget.  The second solution could be plastic bag taxation.  By charging a tax for every plastic bag that gets sold, you would be helping the environment and potentially making more money in the process.  Ireland has already started plastic bag taxation, and it reduced plastic bag usage by 90% in a year.

We can't tell America to ban plastic bags, but we can start with corporations.  Not only will it show you care for the environment, but it will also save so many animals in the future from dying slow and torturous deaths.

Walmart, please help our Earth by reducing the number of plastic bags you give away!
